Congratulations to the 2019 Deep Run PTSO and Dr. Spence Scholarship recipients.


Mark Smith - Midas of Richmond, Karen La Forge - The Read Center, David Smith - Zaxby’s, and Brittany Rose - DRHS PTSO carefully reviewed the 27 applications and determined our scholarships recipients. These students have shown an active participation in every aspect their high school experience, a commitment to community service, academic excellence, and participation in extracurricular activities. A strong sense of personal character, responsibility, motivation, and determination have served them well.

Here is how the process worked in 2018-2019:

The PTSO is pleased to offer eight DRHS-PTSO scholarship to the Class of 2019!

Each scholarship will be in the amount of $500 and will be awarded to a senior pursuing additional education.  Please review the scholarship options and make sure you turn in your application by 4PM on April 12, 2019:

Scholarship: The Dr. Spence Scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded to one graduating Senior who understands and demonstrates:

  • To Whom Much is Given, Much Is Expected
  • Leadership is a Core Value
  • Be Prepared for the 21st Century

Scholarship: The DRHS-PTSO 2 Year or Vocational Scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded to one graduating Senior who is bound for a 2 year or vocational school who meets the following criteria:

  • The student must be a current member of the DRHS-PTSO.
  • The student must be a graduating senior with a 3.0 or above GPA.
  • The student must be enrolled in an accredited two-year college or vocational program.
  • The student should be active in their community and/or school during all of their high school years.
  • The student should exhibit a strong personal character and sense of responsibility, ambition, and motivation.

Scholarship: The DRHS-PTSO 4 Year Scholarship in the amount of $500 each will be awarded to six graduating Seniors who show good academic achievement as well as active involvement at Deep Run High School and their community. Criteria for the PTSO scholarships are:

  • The student must be a current member of the DRHS-PTSO.
  • The student must be a graduating senior with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • The student must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university.
  • The student should have been active in their community and/or school during all of their high school years.
  • The student should exhibit a strong personal character and a sense of responsibility, ambition, and motivation.
